The surround view automotive camera system is a rapidly
developing application. Using the rear view camera as a
starting point, multiple-camera surround view systems provides the
driver with unmatched situational awareness by allowing a view
around the entire vehicle during critical maneuvers. Next generation
surround view systems will fuse other sensor technologies, providing
an active intelligent network to assist the driver. Future surround
view systems have the potential to replace other sensor technologies
in existing applications such as blind spot monitoring (BSM). As a
pioneer in miniature fisheye and
SuperFisheye
(>185deg) lens technology Sunex already has solutions suitable for
surround view cameras. Next generation surround view cameras
will require high resolution sensors and lenses as well as special
attention to the simultaneous integration of multiple images for the
end-user.
